Jonathan Castroviejo (1987) will start his fifth season at the Movistar Team with a calendar of stage races and the Tour de France and the Olympics on the horizon.

According to Biciciclismo, Castroviejo will make his debut at the Dubai Tour (February  3-6) and the Volta ao Algarve (February  17-21) before heading to Paris-Nice (March 6-13) or Tirreno-Adriatico (March 9-15), Volta a Catalunya (March 21-27) with Nairo Quintana and Circuit de la Sarthe (April 5-8).

In the second part of the season, his schedule will include the Criterium du Dauphine, Tour de France and Rio Olympics where he aims to fight for a medal after his fourth place in the time trial at the World Championships in Richmond, just two seconds from a bronze medal.

The Basque rider crowned a great season in Richmond where he won bronze in the team time trial and had the bittersweet taste of fourth place in the individual time trial. Furthermore, he won his second national title and escorted Quintana to second place in the Tour de France like in 2013.

With his performance at the Worlds, Castroviejo proved himself as a candidate for the Olympics but it depends on his fitness and the asessement of coach Javier Minguez. He already did the Olympics in 2012 when he was 9th in the time trial and 25th in the road race.
