The bonus seconds at the finish line for the Tour de France have been decided, according to reports in the French sports newspaper L'Equipe. The bonuses were only planned for the first few stages of the race, but will now be used in all 21 stages.
The winner is to earn ten seconds, six seconds for the runner up and four for the last man on the day’s podium. Tour organizer Christian Prudhomme hopes the tension in the predictable sprint stages will return thanks to the incentive for GC riders to target bonus seconds.
The tour will take place from 4 to July 26, 2015 and begins in Utrecht.
