This morning sad news have emerged. After 34 years, the Tour de Normandie could disappear. While the course has already been finalized, the police costs is a challenge for the organizers.
In fact, everything looked good. The course was ready and many teams had applied for the race which is schedule to take place from March 23 to 29, 2015. However, the expense to have local police at the race have been multiplied by 10 in one year (from 4500 euros in 2014 to 40000 euros in 2015) due a ministerial decree from October 28 2010 (which will become effective from January 1)
The organizers have been in discussions with the minister but the election last April changed everything.
"Without concrete knowledge about the overall costs, the Management Committee of the Tour de Normandie has several weeks to make a final decision," the organizers wrote on the website.
In 2014 the race was won by Stephan Küng (BMC).
