Stefan Denifl will not be at the start of the Tour de Suisse, which is scheduled to take place from June 11th to June 19th. Denifl is suffering from a flu-like illness that will prevent him from giving the best of himself. As a result, IAM Cycling’s Austrian climber will not be able to defend the King of the Mountains jersey that he won in 2015.
The IAM Cycling sports management, along with the team doctor, will discuss possible dates when Denifl could return to competition based on the evolution of his condition.
Denifl was expected to be a key support rider for Mathias Frank in the mountains.
Matthias Brändle has been selected by the IAM Cycling management to replace Denifl for the race, and will be at the prologue in Baar tomorrow afternoon.
