The Tour of Belgium ends with a mini version of Liege-Bastogne-Liege, reports Sporza. This is therefore directly the queen stage in a course according to organizer Rob Discart that has "something for everyone". Last year the race was won by Tony Martin. Tom Dumoulin was second behind the German.

Although the contest is held simultaneously with the Giro, organisers cannot complain about the organization's participants. Niki Terpstra, Greg van Avermaet and Arnaud Démare will all appear at the start of the prologue in Bornem. "Attracting eight World Tour teams was the best for this period of the season," said Discart.

The course is very varied with a ride to the coast of Belgium, a trip through the Flemish Ardennes and a stage on and around the shores of Lake Eau d'Heure. In this stage, and of course the final stage to St. Vith, differences can be made. However, the organization has a new ace in the hole: "Every stage has a golden kilometer 25 kilometers from the finish. Within the kilometer there are three sprints. The winner of each sprint gets three bonus seconds, the second two and the third, one second.”

"At the finish there are nine winning bonus seconds. Gold Kilometer the tension may increase some. Last year, the differences between the riders were minimal. Now it can be so different," Discart talks about the premiere of the sprints.
