So far the 2013 season has seen a series of races either curtailed or cancelled due to atrocious weather conditions. Will the Tour de France be next?
Who will ever forget the horrible conditions facing the riders at this year's Milan-San Remo? Or the images from the Col du Galibier, Passo di Gavia or Passo dello Stelvio at the recent Giro d'Italia?
The route of the Italian spring Classic was cut short, the finish line at the Galibier was moved down 4km and the stage containing the Gavia and the Stelvio was cancelled outright.
The grand depart of the Tour de France may still be one month away but the prospects of the peloton tackling the highest summits the Tour has to offer are looking gloomy at the moment. Recently a French tv crew went to the top of the legendary Tourmalet pass. Their recordings speak for themsleves:
