Etixx - Quick-Step has announced the selection that will participate in Gran Piemonte, a 185km one-day Italian race on the 2nd of October. The race returns after three years, and is a parcours that can favor both the pure sprinter or the puncheur depending on how the race unfolds.
The Etixx - Quick-Step riders at the start will be Maxime Bouet, Gianluca Brambilla, Michal Golas, Fabio Sabatini, Matteo Trentin, Carlos Verona, and Lukasz Wisniowski.
“It’s a race with an up and down finish that probably will finish in a sprint," Sport Director Davide Bramati said. "At 5 or 6 kilometers to go there is a short climb of 500 meters at 5 or 6 percent, that can put a bit of fire in the peloton.
"We are there with a good team, and we start with Matteo as leader. Matteo has had a super strong end of the season, with two victories at Tour du Poitou Charentes and a win at Aviva Tour of Britain. For sure he has shown that he can win if there is a sprint.
"Unfortunately David De La Cruz cannot participate as he is sick, so we will arrive at the start with seven riders. We will do our best with the collective we have for a good result."
