Steven Tronet (Auber 93) was unable to repeat yesterday's stage win on day two at the Route du Sud but managed to defend the overall lead.
"The ambition was to defend the jersey," he told Directvelo. "I'm a little disappointed with my reault in the stage (12th) but I reached the most important target: to wear this jersey in the queen stage.
"Tomorrow it will be impossible to keep my jersey. There will be nothing to do, it is a stage in the high mountains. On the climbs the selection will be made naturally. I know I'll lose my jersey. I'll try not to spend too much energy ahead of the final stage. The Championships of France, given my current physical condition, is a goal. "
