With an early attack, which was rewarded by winning two sprints, the Pole Wojciech Pszczolarski laid the foundation for victory, which he secured with a late attack that earned him an additional eight points in the last two sprints. With this performance, Pszczolarski was able to come away as the new European Points Race Champion. Coming third behind the French defending champion Benjamin Thomas, the Swiss Claudio Imhof grabbed the bronze medal thanks to his victory in the final sprint, which was reason enough to have everyone on their feet and celebrating in the Velodrome Suisse.

For the women’s Scratch race, there was a duel at the highest level between defending champion Kirsten Wild and two-time Olympic champion Laura Trott. In the sprint, the British rider proved superior.
