For the second day in a row Nikolay Trusov was close to a win in the Tour des Fjords when the Russian again sprinted to fourth place in the second stage of the race. Having picked up bonus seconds along the way, he moved into 7th overall.
The 203 kilometer long second stage of Tour des Fjords was a beautifully mountainous stretch from Eidfjord to Haugesund where another bunch sprint was due. And this time, it wasn’t interrupted by a late attack on the final kilometer and in the furious gallop, home turf favorite Alexander Kristoff (Katusha) took the stage win while Tinkoff-Saxo’s Nikolay Trusov once again crossed the finish line in 4th position.
“Once again a beautiful day in the stunning landscape of Norway where Nikolay took a few bonus seconds along the way and is now 7th overall. Tomorrow, we’ll try to hit the morning break targeting a stage win”, says DS Tristan Hoffman after the stage.
Alexander Kristoff leads the race overall. Nikolay Trusov is 11 seconds away from the leader’s jersey.
