Having decided not to defend his title in 2013, Svein Tuft (Orica-GreenEDGE) is back on top of the Canadian time trialling scene after he took a hugely dominant victory in today's national championships. As expected, he was in a class of his own and beat nearest rival Huge Houle (Ag2r) by more than 2 minutes.
Since he took his first title in 2004, Svein Tuft had only failed to win the Canadian TT championships once when last year he decided not to defend his title, allowing Curtis Dearden to wear the coveted jersey for a year. Today he was back in the event he has dominated for a decade and left no one in doubt about his superioty.
On the 40.4km course in Val-Racine, Tuft beat Hugo Houle by no less than 2.04 to take his ninth title. Ryan Roth (Silber) completed the podium, having lost 2.21 to the ne champion during the race.
The win comes in Tuft's first race after a successful Giro d'Italia that saw him be part of the winning team time trial team and wear the maglia rosa for a day.
Result:
1. Svein Tuft 53.25
2. Hugo Houle +2.04
3. Ryan Roth +2.21
