After a season that gave him 6 wins and selection for the Italian squad at the World Championships, Diego Ulissi is confident he can progress to reach new heights in 2014.

In an interview with Cyclingmole, Ulissi highlighted his goals for 2014 as well as his schedule and future ambitions. 

He will target Tirreno-Adriatico, the Ardennes Classics, the Giro and the World Chmpionships. He admits that he will “aim the second half of my season for this race. I have seen the parcours and it is suitable for me.” Could Ulissi be Italy’s next Rainbow Jersey?

At the Giro, he will “aim for stage wins as there are quite a few stages that suit me” 

His abilities to climb quickly will also put him in the frame for an Ardennes Classic victory. On this he said “I’ll try to be competitive in all three races as they are all beautiful. We will see what result I get”

Ulissi also acknowledges that he has the capacity to potentially target a Grand Tour overall victory later in his career, rather than just stages but for now, he will only focus on one-day races and stages.
