There's just one event in the weekend for LAMPRE-MERIDA: on Sunday February 28, the team of the manager Copeland will race in Switzerland, taking part in the GP Lugano (186 km).
Diego Ulissi will be the captain of the team and he’ll be supported by a top quality line-up that includes Mattia Cattaneo, Valerio Conti, Kristijan Durasek, Roberto Ferrari, Manuele Mori, Simone Petilli and Xu Gang.
On the lake shores, LAMPRE-MERIDA obtained two victories in the 2015 season: in GP Lugano with Bonifazio and in the 17th stage of the Giro d’Italia (Tirano-Lugano) with Modolo.
“Ulissi know the roads of the GP Lugano well and he’s in a good condition, so he’ll be our captain and he’ll try to achieve the goal that he missed in the previous races, when he was in the head of the races in the final kilometers but could not complete the performances in a winning way," sports director Simone Pedrazzini explained. "It will be important to approach the race in the proper way, considering that it will be difficult to chase an attack of more than 10 riders for those teams which won’t have any riders in the breakaway.
"Cattaneo, Petilli and Xu Gang will control the first part of the race, while Durasek and Conti are inspired enough to be with Ulissi in the final kilometers. The experience of Mori and Ferrari will be important too for achieving the goal“
