Diego Ulissi is set to face the Swiss Cycling Disciplinary Committee on December 23 to find out what his controlled excretion tests revealed and if further hearings will be necessary, if he will be cleared of charges or banned from the sport, according to Tuttobiciweb.
Ulissi returned an adverse analytical finding for excessive levels of Salbutamol during this year’s Giro d’Italia. The 25-year-old had been given a therapeutic use exemption (TUE) from the UCI to use the substance, to help alleviate the symptoms of the bronchitis he picked up during the race. But Ulissi’s test showed almost double the allowed amount under the anti-doping regulations but the Italian rejected the claim he had used that much.
Ulissi hasn’t raced since June, apart from a rare appearance at the Trittico Lombardo one-day races in September.
