Later today Diego Ulissi will know whether he will be able to ride as planned in 2014. The Swiss Disciplinary Committee will issue its ruling that could see the Italian receive a two-year ban.
The big day has finally arrievd for Diego Ulissi who will learn more about his future. Almost six months after he received the notification that the Lampre-Merida rider had tested positive for salbutamol at the Giro d'Italia, the Lampre-Merida rider will be sanctioned by the Swiss Disciplinary Committee as he lives in Lugano and races under a Swiss license.
Ulissi who risks being suspended for two years and who only tested positive once despite being tested five days in arow, will be supported by laywer Rocco Taminelli and will rely on the expert opinion of Professor Locatelli as he claims that a calibration error is the reason for the positive test.
Ulissi was initially only suspended by his team who allowed him to return to competition at the Coppa Agostoni. The UCI intervened and prevented him from starting the Coppa Bernocchi one day later.
Ulissi won two stage of the Giro d'Italia before he tested positive for the substance.
