Diego Ulissi was aware of the level of the difficulty of the final time trial of the Tour de Pologne. That's why he said that a place on the podium would have been a very good result.
Unfortunately, LAMPRE-MERIDA's captain missed the target by 16": despite a solid performance in the 25km time trial in Krakow (30th place, at 1'57" from winner Bialoblocki), he finished the Tour de Pologne in 6th position, 4" from the 5th place of Aru, 5" from the 4th place of Zakarin and from 16" from the 3rd position which was obtained by Hermans. Tour de Pologne was won by Izagirre who was 19" better than Ulissi.
The best performance for the blue-fuchsia-green team in the time trial was delivered by Valerio Conti, who was 24th at 1'49" from Bialoblocki.
There is one rest day after the Tour de Pologne and then LAMPRE-MERIDA will be ready for another World Tour stage race, the Eneco Tour.
For the race which will take place on the Benelux roads from Monday to Sunday, the sport directors Mario Scirea and Daniele Righi will rely on four riders who have just completed their participation in the Tour de Pologne, namely Roberto Ferrari, Sacha Modolo, Manuele Mori and Ulissi, who'll be joined by Luka Pibernik, Jan Polanc and Filippo Pozzato.
