During his four years at IAM Pirmin, Lang mainly worked as a reliable domestique and there was no personal victory. However, the 31-year-old was very close to the big coup when he finished second in the Swiss Championships, behind his team-mate Jonathan Fumeaux.
"I could do my job for the team well and even had a good ride at the championships," Lang told radsport-news.com about the season in which he also had his share of Dries Devenyns’ overall victory at the Tour de Wallonie and participated in the European Championships in Plumelec and the Road World Championships in Doha. "These were positive experiences for me," said Lang.
The biggest disappointment was the withdrawal of main sponsor IAM which was announced in May. After that, however, the team reacted impressively and took no fewer than 14 victories, including stage win at the Giro d'Italia (by Roger Kluge), the Tour de France (by Jarlinson Pantano) and the Vuelta a Espana (by Jonas Van Genechten and Mathias Frank). "The team worked great," he said, pointing to the second half of the season.
Lang also showed himself to be reliable in the last months of the year and rode all day in the breakaway at Paris-Tours and did his job for IAM to the satisfaction of the sports management"until the last day" .
While most of his team colleagues were successful in finding new employers, Lang's future is still uncertain. "Whether I will keep riding or not is not yet clear, but I am still very motivated," said the veteran. "First of all, I'll do some cross races. That's good for the head and quite familiar," Lang added.
