The UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team welcomes current US National Road Champion Matthew Busche to the ranks for the 2016 season. The team makes the high-profile hire following superb performances at the major late-season American stage races, including a stage win and 4 days in the yellow jersey in the 2015 Tour of Utah, followed by two stage wins and overall green jersey victory at the USA Pro Challenge.

Busche seized the stars and stripes for the second time in his career this May, when he made selection after selection on a brutal, rain-soaked Chattanooga, TN course. With the race lead whittled down to just one other rider, Busche went for the win on his own, showing great strength while crossing the line solo with several seconds to spare. The consistent and hard-working Wisconsin native began racing in 2008 and advanced to the top of the sport in just two years of racing. Busche’s first national championship title was earned in a 2-rider sprint on the streets of Greenville, South Carolina in 2011, while riding for Team Radioshack. Despite his relatively young age, Busche adds significant depth and experience to the UnitedHealthcare Team as a consistent all-around rider with top-5 performance in the overall classification at the Tour of Utah (2nd, 2012; 5th, 2013) and USA Pro Challenge (5th, 2014). Busche also brings time trialing prowess to the group, with numerous top-10 performances in the USA Cycling National Individual Time Trial Championships (7th, 2013; 3rd, 2011; 5th, 2010). More importantly than past results, Busche shares the values of hard work and sacrifice, making him a great fit for the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team.

"It's great to have a USA National Champion racing for us in 2016. He is a solid rider in one-day races and weeklong stage races, alike. Both of which are clear goals for us here at the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team," commented the Team’s general manager, Mike Tamayo.  "His consistency in the general classification standings at stage races is something we can help turn into podiums next season. On this team, we rally behind clear goals and we have some plans that will be exciting to watch in 2016."

Busche commented, “I'm very excited and thankful for the opportunity to be joining The UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team. It is a great group of riders and staff and I'm really looking forward to racing with them in 2016. I'm eager to work with and for my teammates to achieve their goals, as well as having their help and support to achieve my goals. It is a real family environment within the team and I'm really happy to join that. We haven't laid out a specific race program yet, but primary goals are likely to be the three American races. I know the team is going to do everything possible to help me get back to the top of my racing potential, so I'm excited to get the season underway!”
