The situation seems complicated for the Skydive Dubai Team. Francisco Mancebo has recently extended his contract but it seems that the team does not respect its commitments to other riders and is plagued by financial difficulties.
Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Andrea Palini and Ivan Santaromita have contacted the Association of Italian professional cyclists (CAPIC), claiming that their salaries have not been paid since April. The wages for the first months of the year were paid with delay of two months each time.
Furthermore, the Dubai team has not raced between the Giro del Trentino in April and the Tour of Alberta in September, even canceling a team gathered in the Alps in the spring. Despite the comeback of the team late in the season in Alberta and Asia, Skydive Dubai never raced in Europe, not even in the Trittico Lombardo where they had been given an invitation. They didn’t give any explanation.
CAPIC have sent a letter to the UCI, the international riders’ union CPA, national federations and the team, requesting the latter to pay the wages owed to Italian riders in the next ten days. While the letter relates only to the Italian riders, Andrea Palini and Ivan Santaromita who have found contracts with other teams next year (Androni and Nippo-Vini Fantini respectively), nothing is said about other riders in the team.
