At today's sixth stage of the Tour de France from Abbeville to Le Havre, 191.5 km were completed and ended again in a bunch sprint. The desire of the entire peloton after a quiet, sunny stage without crashes was met until shortly before the finish when the yellow jersey went down and many others with it.
Bora-Argon 18 captain Dominik Nerz again managed to arrive at the finish with the first riders and lost no time. After the crash in the 3-kilometer zone, Czech Zdenek Stybar (Etixx-Quickstep) who escaped the crash, won the sprint ahead of Peter Sagan (Tinkoff-Saxo) and Bryan Coquard from Team Europcar.
"Actually, today we wanted to be represented in a group with Jan [Barta]. So he tried at the very beginning but unfortunately it was not the first group to go but only the third or fourth, and therefore he was unable to implement our plan. The other riders concentrated on Dominik and since Sam [Bennett] already hasn't felt perfectly yesterday, the final was too tough for him. So we assisted Dominikas best as we could so that he wouldn't lose time. That worked out well. The stage was done in a controlled manner. Luckily this time with little wind and much sun. I think the riders deserved it after the past really hard days.", explained Sport Director Enrico Poitschke.
