Even if a „balanced” next year’s Giro d’Italia is still regarded the one for climbers, runner-up in last two editions of the Italian Grand Tour, Rigoberto Uran, certainly should enjoy the less mountain-heavy route with long individual time trial expected to be one of the most decisive moments.

Participating in the official Giro d’Italia 2015 presentation in Milan, the 27-year old Colombian revealed that his next season’s schedule won’t be decided before the Tour de France route is revealed on October 22.

In line with all expectations, however, Uran admitted that the parcours of next year’s Italian three-week event should suit his characteristics well and that he wouldn’t mind repeating the result from last two seasons.

“I like the Giro and I like the route. I'll decide with the team if I ride it after seeing the Tour de France route,” Uran said.

“For sure it's a hard Giro. It always is. The weather is also a factor because you never know what can happen. If I finish second again, I'd be happy. The important thing is to be up there and in contention.”

The Omega Pharma – Quick Step also commented on his 2014 season, in which his impressive performance at the Giro d’Italia was followed by an appearance in the Vuelta a Espana hampered by bronchitis and below-par results obtained in the World Championship road race and Il Lombardia.

Uran will end his season at the Tour of Beijing held from October 10 to 14.

“I think I had a good first part of the season with second place overall in the Giro. The second part was a bit average but I think that's normal,” he said.

“I think you can be happy with your season if you finish it without any accidents. I tried to do well at Il Lombardia but I didn't have the legs. I'm riding the Tour of Beijing and then my season will be over.”
