As one of the first nations, Colombia has announced their final selection for the upcoming World Championships held in Ponferrada, Spain.
Becoming one of the most dominant nations in cycling throughout last three seasons, Colombia is allowed to enter the World Championships road race with the biggest possible nine-rider roster. Also this year, strong squad will be led by Olympic silver medalist Rigoberto Uran (Omega Pharma-Quick Step), joined by Winner Anacona (Lampre Merida), Janier Acevedo (Garmin Sharp), Sebastian Henao (Team Sky), Julian Arredondo (Trek Factory Racing), Esteban Chaves (Orica GreenEdge), Carlos Betancur (Ag2r La Mondiale), Miguel Angel Rubiano and Carlos Julian Quintero (Colombia Team).
Nairo Quintana (Movistar), Darwin Atapuma (BMC) and Sergio Henao (Team Sky) all will miss the event due to injuries while the absence of Fabio Duarte, Leonardo Duque (Team Colombia) and Jose Serpa (Lampre-Merida) might be considered somewhat surprising.
