Wout van Aert continued his cyclo-cross dominance when he rode to an impressive solo win at the Zilvermeercross in Mol.

"In the last lap I had a nice advantage," he told Het Nieuwsblad. "I could ride my own pace and I was strongly encouraged by an enthusiastic crowd. I suffered in the beginning of the race. Especially when Mathieu van der Poel accelerated. At one point, I followed van der Poel but it cost me some strength. However, it was much too soon for the two of us to go to the finish so so we lowered the tempo and were again joined by other riders.

"At the end of this rather strange race, there was a natural tie-breaker. I accelerated in full final and immediately got a gap. That was the moment to go full gas and to achieve the victory. The symbol when I crossed the finish line? I made the S for Sarah, the name of my girlfriend. She is always there for me and I dedicate the victory to her."
