Having already won the Cholet Pays de Loire, Tom Van Asbroeck again underlined that he has the talent to join the WorldTour when be beat Gianni Meersman in the sprint at the end of stage 4 of the Tour de Wallonie. Despite denying that he has signed a contract with Cannondale, he admits that he is ready to join a bigger team for the coming season and is now weighing up his options.

With a victory in the big one-day race Cholet Pays de Loire, Tom Van Asbroeck has had an incredible season that has heavily linked him with a move to the Cannondale team for the 2015 season. Today he again underlined that he deserves a spot on the WorldTour when he added the fourth stage of the Tour de Wallonie to his growing palmares.

Van Asbroeck proved his versatility by overcoming no less than 11 climbs in the Ardennes before he unleashed a powerful sprint to beat the in-form Gianni Meersman in a photo finish.

"This is amazing," he told Directvelo. "The race was really difficult , and I am especially pleased to finish it off with a victory. It is a miracle that I was able to beat Meersman who is so strong.I won with just a few centimetres. This season is quite exceptional. This is already my third win of the year. For the team and for me, it's beautiful."

"I've been in good shape for a few weeks now," he told Het Nieuwsblad. "But I really didn't think that I would win here. Especially on the last two climbs I was suffering a lot. I was riding at the back of the pack and was about to get dropped several times. Fortunately, my hard work paid off. I can hardly believe it."

Van Asbroeck currently shares second place in the UCI Europe Tour with Sonny Colbrelli . Both riders have 336 points, 42 less than leader Magnus Cort Nielsen. 

"That first place is certainly on my mind," said Van Asbroeck. "The priority now is to get as many points as possible in the upcoming races. I will go all the way to try to win that final ranking, but we'll see where I'll end up.

"There is nothing concrete [regarding the Cannondale rumours]. Cannondale is indeed interested, but there are other teams that have shown interest. It could be a major foreign or domestic team Personally, I do not work on it all day. I have a manager who fully conduct the negotiations.

"I learned a lot at Topsport Vlaanderen-Baloise. Year after year I made progress. Kast year I was up there, and now I have taken two big wins. Every year I have taken a step forward. Next year I want to do it again. I want to go to a team where I can continue to grow, so I look at the pros and cons for every team. I am not too concerned about what direction I will take as a rider.

"Am I a sprinter? I don't 'know. "I still have a long way to go How I will evolve as a rider will depend on the team I choose. The fact is that you have to specialize more and more. A rider like me has to make a choice. We'll see whether I end up as a sprinter or a classics rider. I still have time to grow."
