The BMC Racing Team's roster for Gent-Wevelgem Sunday includes past winner Marcus Burghardt and Tirreno-Adriatico stage winner Greg Van Avermaet, who finished third in 2013. Van Avermaet said he is ready to race again after crashing in the final 20 kilometers of Friday's race, E3-Harelbeke.
"I was a little bit sore today, but I think that is normal," Van Avermaet said after completing a one-hour training ride with the team. "The doctor checked me and said there is nothing broken so I should be OK for tomorrow. We will see how it goes."
In addition to Burghardt, the 2007 winner of the Belgian WorldTour race, the BMC Racing Team's roster also includes three members of its world team time trial championship squad: Silvan Dillier, Daniel Oss and Manuel Quinziato.
Greg Van Avermaet will return to the race, whereas the best result obtained by him was the last spot of the podium in 2013. The race will suit him well as “The Sprinters Classic” suits the Belgian and his sprinting talents well.
