Lars van der Haar finished in fourth place at Gavere, the fourth race of the Hansgrohe Superprestige classification. Overall leader Wout van Aert won his third Superprestige race, van der Haar is fourth overall.
After the race van der Haar said: “It was a tough but nice race. I felt good and enjoyed the course, and the guys in the pit area did a great job.
“I was capable of following the strongest today. A couple of times I had to close some gaps, which cost me quite a lot of energy. Halfway through the race we were in front with the four of us and I tried it, but they caught me back directly.
“In the phase that followed I was struggling and had to let them go. I was unable to close the gap again, which was slightly disappointing since my aim was to finish on the podium.”
