Mathieu van der Poel seems to be unbeatable at the moment. In the Superprestige race in Hoogstraten, the Dutch world champion won his second victory this weekend after another demonstration of power. Kevin Pauwels and Wout van Aert van der Poel completed the podium and van der Poel extended his overall lead.
Those who though that Mathieu van der Poel was empty after yesterday, were wrong. The world champion already went clear in the first lap.
Sven Nys and especially Wout van Aert were immediately set back by a crash. Meanwhile, Kevin Pauwels fought hard with Lars van der Haar to try to keep come tension in the race.
However, the duo never got closer than 5 seconds. Van der Poel showed no sign of weakness and not even a puncture and a small crash could stop him.
Van Aert fought back and flew past van der Haar to take third. Belgian champion Klaas Vantornout completed the top five.
With one race to go, Mathieu van der Poel still leads the Superprestige series. Next week he will try to defend his two-point lead over Pauwels in Middelkerke.
