Next Sunday Dutch cyclocross champion Mathieu van der Poel will be riding against the elite rider at the World Cup race in Hoogerheide. The younger Van der Poel who celebrated his twentieth birthday yesterday, has been selected for the race that is seen as a warm-up for the World Championships.
Due to the fact that the race will be held in the Netherlands, coach Johan Lammerts is allowed to select both an A and a B team. In the last World Cup race of the season, the riders have a final chance to earn selection for the Worlds. Lammerts will announce the selection on Monday, January 27.
