Mathieu van der Poel continues to ride both at the elite and U23 level. The talented Dutchman has announced that he will riding with the elite riders in Saturday's World Cup race in Koksijde.
On Saturday, Mathieu van der Poel will ride the World Cup in Koksijde with the elits riders. The BKCP-Powerplus rider is usually riding with the U23 riders in that race series but there is no U23 race in the sand of Koksijde. Hence, van der Poel is one of 8 riders selected for the race by Ducth national coach Johan Lammerts.
In the Cauberg Cyclo-Cross in Valkenburg which opened the 2014-2015 World Cup, van der Poel rode with the U23 rides. In Koksijde, he will be joined by compatriots Lars van der Haar, Thijs van Amerongen, Corne van Kessel, David van der Poel, Niels Wubben, Eddy van IJzendoorn and Twan van den Brand.
For the women's race, Lammerts has selected Sophie de Boer, Sabrina Stultiens, Sanne van Paassen, Reza Hormes-Ravenstijn, Yara Kastelijn and Lizzy Witlox. The juniors won't have a race on Saturday.
After the race in Koksijde, the third round of the World Cup will be held one week later in Milton Keynes.
