Kenny Van Hummel (Androni-Venezuela) was one of several sprinters to hit the deck in today's dramatic finale of the Tour de Langkawi. The Dutchman has been cleared of any broken bones and is expected to continue in the race.

"It's an unlucky start of season for our team, but we will react because in adverse conditions we have always shown character."

That’s was the thought expressed by the Androni-Venezuela team manager Gianni Savio at the press conference at the end of the second stage of the Tour de Langkawi won by Theo Bos . The end of the race was really unfortunate for the Androni-Venezuela since the team had worked very well in order to bring forward their sprinter Kenny Van Hummel.

Guided by Omar Bertazzo , in fact, Van Hummel was in the top positions of the group 800 meters from the finish line, when he was involved in a crash along with other prominent sprinters like Andrea Guardini .

The two cyclists of the Italian-Venezuelan team, Bertazzo and Van Hummel, have reported various wounds, but apparently no broken bones and therefore they should be at the start of the third stage of the Tour de Langkawi. Also Carlos Ochoa was involved in the final crash but is apparenly unhurt.

Van Hummel had shown good condition by finishing 3rd in the peloton's sprint in stage 1. The leader of the race remains Duber Quintero, winner of the first fraction .
