Next year Lotto Belisol will say goodbye to sprinter Jonas Van Genechten who will join IAM cycling. "Often I will get my own chance in the sprints," the 28-year-old sprinter tells La Derniere Heure.
In 2014 Jonas Van Genechten has had a breakthrough season with wins in the GP Fourmies, Druivenkoers Overijse and the fourth stage of the Tour de Pologne.
"But in 2015 Jonas will no longer be part of the team," Lotto Belisol state in a pree release. "Despite the fact that the agent and rider had agreed conditions for a new and much improved contract, they still chose to be active for another team next year."
That team is IAM Cycling which is led by Sylvain Chavanel and Mathias Frank.
"But it's still a bit early to talk about it," Van Genechten told la Derniere Heure. "It is primarily a sporting choice."
"Despite the presence of fast riders like Haussler and Pelucchi, I will often be allowed to take my own chance in the sprints. I have a bright future."
Van Genechten rode in the Lotto Belisol jersey for three years.
"I am very happy that I had a chance at Lotto. At Greipel's side, I have made much progress but I also want to ride for myself. I thank Lotto for the beautiful years."
