Today Klaas Vantornout Sunday is back in business. The two-time Belgian champion hopes that it is "third time lucky" as it is his third comeback. "Never before I started the season so poorly. How good I am in Ruddervoorde is for me an open question. I especially like that I can make my comeback in front of my own supporters," he tells Het Nieuwsblad.

"Ruddervoorde for me is the top race closest to my home. Meulebeke and Ardooie are my other home races. I am glad that I can start again front of my own people. When [Belgian national] coach Rudy De Bie phoned me on Monday regarding the European Championships, I felt sufficiently recovered. 

"For me, Ruddervoorde is always something special. Nowhere else are there so many fans for me. I have won there as a U23 rider and two years ago as a professional. I can also use this time to support my comeback. For me, I go to the start with a different feeling than I do at races in the Kempen, where a rider from West-Flanders always feels a bit like the intruder. Especially if you ride for the podium. If you are just following as I have been doing in recent months, it is less sensitive."
