Klaas Vantornout has won the first edition of the Berencross in Meulebeke. He shared the podium with his teammates Jim Aernouts and Kevin Pauwels. "Thanks to my teammates, I won pretty easily," he admits.
In an interview with Sporza, Klaas Vantornout described his win in the inaugural edition of the Berencross.
"First I escaped with Michael Vanthourenhout but I felt that I was stronger than him. Then Tom Meeusen adn teh others rejoined us. I let them come back a bit and went all in with six laps to go.
"I knew that the team was protecting me a little further back so I could gradually extend my lead. Thanks to my teammates, I won pretty easily," Vantonout says, praising the performance of Pauwels and Aernouts.
"It is also not often that three teammates finish on the podium. For me personally, it has been a successful start to the season even though we have only just begun."
