Lars van der Haar was the fastest for Team Giant-Alpecin today at 41th, shortly followed by Ramon Sinkeldam, Johannes Fröhlinger, and John Degenkolb in 52, 54, 55th respectively. Albert Timmer and Tom Veelers complete the team’s ranking with 74th and 91th.
Stage winner Alex Dowset is also the new overall leader as he will be wearing the yellow jersey at tomorrow’s closing stage. Degenkolb moves to 33th overall, 2’19 behind Dowsett.
After his time trial, Tom Veelers said: “I rode a controlled time trial today. My return into racing after my knee injury is going well so far. Sometimes I still feel my knee a little bit, but that seems to be normal in this recovery process.
“During the time trial I used the downhill sections to release the pressure, which went quite well. After the Bayern Rundfahrt ends tomorrow I continue to progress before my knee is ready to handle efforts at full load again.”
