A few weeks ago, Francisco Ventoso feared retirement after his contract with Movistar was not renewed. Now the Spaniard has been thrown a lifeline by his current team as he has been added as the final rider to the 2015 roster.
After a 2014 season full of commitment an team duties - firstly in favour of Nairo Quintana with whom he conquered the Giro d'Italia, then with Juanjo Lobato, leading out the young Andalusian in the sprints - Fran Ventoso has extended his contract with the Movistar Team for an additional season. The Spaniard, 32, came close to victory three times early last season - in San Luis (2nd in a stage), the Trofeo Platja de Muro (2nd) and the GP Nobili (3rd) - later taking a decisive step forward in an 11-year career always focused in bunch finishes.
"It's been really rewarding for me to see your my appreciated after such a season focused on the squad and my team-mates - less individual results, yet the same effort. I'm really happy with what I did and extremely thankful about this renewal," says Ventoso, the final addition to the Blues' roster for 2015, composed by 28 riders including four signings: Marc Soler (Lizarte, elite2), Rubén Fernández (Caja Rural-RGA), Winner Anacona (Lampre) and Rory Sutherland (Tinkoff-Saxo).
