Caja Rural have reinforced their team for both the sprints and the mountains as they have signed Davide Vigano and Heiner Parra for the coming season. While the former will be an important lead-out man for Francesco Lasca, the latter is expected to shine on the climbs.

Spanish professional continental team Caja Rural have announced two major signings for the 2014 season. Davide Vigano and Heiner Parra have signed contracts with the team and will both be significant reinforcements.

Vigano is an experienced professional who has raced for teams like Quick Step, Fuji-Servetto, Sky and Leopard-Trek before joining Lampre-Merida for the 2012 season. Being a fast rider, he has mostly played the role of lead-out man for sprinters like Tom Boonen, Alessandro Petacchi and Roberto Ferrari and still hasn't taken a professional win.

On Caja Rural, he is expected to be the final lead-out man for up-and-coming sprinter Francesco Lasca who has won three races in the past two seasons. The talented Italian debuted in the Vuelta a Espana this year and is expected to benefit from the presence of the experienced Vigano.

"I hope it will a great season for me and the team," Vigano said. "I hope I can show my true abilities as a rider as I have only been able to do so on select occasions in the past.I want to use my experience as a lead-out man for Francesco Lasca. Lasca has demonstrated his ability to fight for the victory against the strongest sprinters. I know him personally and I think I will be able to support him. I want to have a great year to honour the trust shown by Caja Rural-Seguros RGA in this difficult time."

22-year-old Parra is a talented Colombian and has signed a two-year contract with the team. At just 48,5kg, he excels on the climbs and is expected to reinforce the team's roster of climbers that already includes the likes of David Arroyo, Amets Txurruka and Marco Garcia. He finished 7th in the Tour de l'Avenir this year and won the queen stage of the Ronde de l'Isard. Riding for the Colombian 4-72 Colombia team, he got the chance to ride against the elite in the Tour de l'Ain where he was 22nd.

The signings are the 4th and 5th for Caja Rural who have previously announced that Movistar rider Angel Madrazo will join the team next year while young riders Fernando Grijalva and Antonio Molina will turn professional after having competed for their amateur squad in 2013. At the moment, the team has a 16-rider roster for the 2014 season.

Earlier this month, the team announced that Txurruka, Garcia and Omar Fraile have renewed their contracts.
