Last year Davide Vigano feared that his career was over after he was unable to land a contract with a professional team. Now riding for the small Idea team, he proved his potential yesterday when he finished second in the GP Costa degli Etruschi.
A second place always leaves a bitter taste, but Davide Viganò has not lost his smile. The Team Idea rider finished the GP Costa degli Etruschi behind Manuel Belletti, already proving to be in excellent condition.
"Since last year I have been in the top five or at least in the top in all races in Italy," he told Spaziociclismo. "And it is certainly a matter of luck. Today I was second and I missed very little but it is only the first race of the season and since the condition is still not at its best, I am sure that in the next races in Laigueglia and GP Nobili I have time to show that I can win."
Next to the task on the road, the former Caja Rural rider aims to alternate the road work with some track racing where he has achieved excellent results in the past, like the gold in 2012 European Derny Championships.
"I will pursue both activities because today I had the proof that the track is really helpful," he said. "CT Villa took me to the track and this preparation helped me, so I have to thank them and all the staff of the national team for today's performance."
