Davide Viganò (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA) will join the continental Team Idea in 2015 and will take the role as one of the leaders. Having raced for teams like Quick Step, Lampre and Sky, he does not only return to Italy as he has signed a contract with a team from his home region of Lombardy
Matteo Spreafico and Alessandro Pettiti, who have renewed their contract, Francesco Reda (former Androni and Quick Step rider), Dane Marc Garby (Christina Watches) and amateurs Luca Cappelli (Gragnano S.C.), Alessandro Mariano (S.C. Busto Garolfo), Matteo Malucelli and Maurizio Damiano Maurizio (Fausto Coppi Videa), Manuel Todaro and Giacomo Peretto (Biringhello), Mirko Torta (Fiorenzo Magni Boltiere) and Marzo Tizza (Pedale Brianteo) will make up the Idea team in 2015.
Viganò is happy with his decision. "I know most of my future teammates because they are my training partners. We all share the team spirit, no one is above another. The season will be long, everyone will have ups and downs from time to time and we will help each other to do our best," he says
In 2014 he won a stage and twice finished second in stages of the Volta a Portugal, was third in the Clasica Almería, fourth in the Coppa Bernocchi fourth and fifth in the Memorial Pantani. "The 2014 season was my best season because I achieved many results and a victory in the Volta a Portugal, despite again having worked mainly as a domestique for the other leaders (like Francesco Lasca, Amets Txurruka and Luis Leon Sanchez, ed.) This year I hope to repeat the excellent season at home," he says.
Until his arrival at the Caja Rural-RGA this year, Viganò had always competed in the WorldTour. He rode for Androni in 2005, and in August he moved to Quick Step team where he worked for Tom Boonen until 2008. He has raced with Fuji-Servetto (2009), Sky (2010), Leopard-Trek (2011) and Lampre (2012-2013) before joining the Spanish team
