Davide Viganò is satisfied despite missing on on the victory in Trofeo Matteotti where he finished third.
" When you lose a race that you could have won and you had the legs to win, it is always a shame," he told Cyclingpro.net. "But I have to be content with such a day, with 40°C, a mix of bad and good times so you never know if you have good legs at he finish. I am happy with this third place.
"In the sprint there was headwind so it was not a fast sprint. In this type of finish there are always problems. I had to brake. Nevertheless I did well to only be beaten by Pasqualon.
"The momentum was there in Slovakia where I won a stage and a jersey but I have missed it in Italy. Today was the first chance, but there will be many others so we can say it is a good start."
