Just as the race seemed to disappear from the international calendar, the the organizers of the Tour Mediteraneen may have found a solution that will see the race continue. According to reports in the Spanish media, the 2015 edition could start in Catalunya which may allow the race to survive.

The organizers of the Tour Mediteraneen have got new hope that their race will take place in 2015. While it seemed that the race would disapperar from the calendar, the short stage race could find new life by crossing the border. According to reports in ciclicme.cat, the French race which is scheduled for February 12-15, may start in Catalonia, with a stage that will both start and finish in Figueres.

If the rumours are confirmed, the race which has traditionally been held entirely on French soil will visit untested territory. If the experiment turns out to be succesful, the idea may be used again for future editions, with the organizers also considering stages in Italy.

The 2014 edition of the race was won by Stephen Cummings. The race traditionally offers the first big summit finish of the European calendar when the riders climb the steep Mont Faron in Toulon.
