As it was reported by Australian media, Thomas Voeckler has crashed during a training ride shortly after he arrived to Adelaide. His participation in Tour Down Under, in which his team – Europcar, debuts this year is now under a serious threat.
As a result of a collision with a stationary vehicle on a training ride near the Adelaide beach-side suburb of Glenelg, Voeckler was taken to Sportsmed-SA healthcare facility and is told to have his collarbone broken.
It is an extremely unfortunate accident, as the French rider has recently undergone a minor surgery aimed to remove a plate from his collarbone, which was an aftermath of another crash he experienced during the Amstel Gold Race last season.
Now Voeckler’s participation in Tour Down Under, in which Europcar will debut as a World Tour team, remains in doubt.
