Jens Voigt (Radioshack) has finally confirmed that he will ride another season as a professional. For a long time, the veteran German has been unable to make up his mind but he has now finally committed to a new full season during which he will say goodbye to the professional peloton.

41-year-old Jens Voigt has long claimed to be unable to decide whether he would race another season as a professional but now the veteran German appears to have made a final decision. Currently racing the Tour of Utah, Voigt has used his Twitter account to confirm that he will ride another - and final - season as a professional.

"No no - no retirement yet!! I will happily ride that new bike a whole season next year - Down Under, Europe, Asia and again America," Voigt wrote on Twitter yesterday before adding. "It will take me all of next year to slowly say goodbye and to get my mind around the fact that I will retire at the end of next year... but not yet!!"

Voigt already made it clear during the Tour de France that he will not race another edition of the Grande Boucle and he went on a big farewell attack in the final mountain stage to Annecy-Semnoz. He has a special affiliation with the French grand tour, having raced 16 consecutive editions, won two stages and worn the yellow jersey. His best results have, however, come in "his" race, Criterium International, which he has won 5 times.

This year he has taken one win: the 5th stage of the Tour of California where he made a late attack from a reduced front group that had been created by hard riding in the fierce crosswinds.
