For its 95th edition that will take place from March 23 to 29, the Volta a Catalunya will introduce a special ranking for riders that are 25 years or younger. The leader will wear a special jersey.

The Volta has introduced the new classification as a special motivation for riders that have been born on January 1, 1990 or later. The jersey will be the fourth special jersey in the race alongside the leader's jersey, the mountains jersey and the sprints jersey. The race usually has no points competition.

Bretagne-Seche, Caja Rural, CCC Sprandi-Polkowice, Cofidis, Colombia, Europcar and Wanty-Gobert have received the seven wildcards for the Spanish race.
