This weekend Wanty lined up in three races in Belgian and France. The team left the races empty-handed.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday the Wanty-Groupe Gobert team rode three 1.1 events in Belgium: Vendredi, the Flanders championships in Koolskamp, GP Impanis – Van Petegem and the GP Isbergues.

"We rode well," sports director Hilaire Vanderschueren concludes. "we were up front, partially made the race but without any super results. It was neither bad nor good. "

Friday, in Koolskamp, a breakaway left early with Frédérique Robert and Nico Sijmens but also with Europe Tour leader Tom Van Asbroeck and top sprinter André Greipel.

“Sadly they were caught at two kilometres from the line. If we would have had a sprint in that group, it would have come down to Greipel, Van Asbroeck and Robert,” Vanderschueren said. In 11th place Roy Jans was the best rider for Wanty-Groupe Gobert.

On Saturday the GP Impanis-Van Petegem was on the menu. “A breakaway was up on the road quite soon and we had good riders in it with Björn Leukemans, Laurens de Vreese and Roy Jans,” the sports director continued.

"They were caught after 20 kilometres only and a new group went up the road without any of our team's riders."

In the final for of the riders from the break made it to the finish line, despite the fact that several WorldTour-teams didn't have any representation in the break. But the chase didn't go well enough. Björn Leukemans bridged to the leader group but finished only ninth."

The GP Isbergues on Sunday was tightly under control by Arnaud Démare's FDJ. "There was a group up the road without any of our riders in it. But you know that if FDJ want a sprint, they'll work for that. Roy Jans was positioned well at 3-4 kilometres from the line but only finished 42nd," Vanderschueren concludes. Jempy Drucker was the team's top finisher in 8th place.
