"With my good result at the Tour of Poland, I am full of confidence. The Tour of Utah is a race that generally favors climbers. So I hope to show myself well on this terrain that is suited to my strengths."

Before turning their attention to the Tour of Utah, the IAM Cycling team will be conducting a training camp in the Park City area. Based at over 2000 meters above sea level, the Swiss professional team will take advantage of these optimal conditions in order to perfect its preparation for the US stage race.

“The camp will be divided into three sections,” Hendrik Werner, team trainer, commented. “The first three days will be used to acclimatize the riders. It will be essential to get over the effects of jet lag and become accustomed to the altitude. Then, after a rest day, the riders will start to work at higher intensities. This workload will not exceed more than two days. The last part of the camp will be devoted to recovery before the Tour of Utah.”

“The only solution to acclimation is to spend time there,” Werner explained. “That’s why we will be nearly ten days In Utah before the start of the event. Of course, nearly all of our riders have been at an altitude training camp before coming here. Whether they’ve been to the Bernina camp, or St. Moritz, their bodies have had time to get use to higher altitudes.”

"Our objective is two-fold,” Werner continued. “As the most immediate objective, we want to perform well at the Tour of Utah. But this race also acts as a great punctuation for a working block to prepare ideally for the Tour of Spain.”

"I'm from Michigan, but racing in the USA always feels like I’m a bit at home. And inevitably that brings a touch of extra motivation. With my good result at the Tour of Poland, I am full of confidence. The Tour of Utah is a race that generally favors climbers. So I hope to show myself well on this terrain that is suited to my strengths. Of course, some stages will be better for the fast finishers, and Heinrich Haussler will be our man for the mass sprints. We have come with an eclectic and strong team.”
