Pieter Weening has extended his contract with Roompot - Orange Peloton and will spend the next two seasons with the 100% Dutch pro-continental team. The experienced Dutchman is in his first year in the team and has already achieved notable successes. Weening was the strongest in a stage and the overall classification of the Tour of Norway and he won a stage in the Tour de Suisse.
"Pieter has been a major asset for the team," team manager Michael Zijlaard said. "He knows how a professional cyclist should live and he knows to work towards specific goals. With his ambition and competition insight, he is an example for the talents in our team."
Weening is also pleased with the extended cooperation:

Weening is in his 13th season as a professional. After a start with the Rabobank development team he spent eight years in the team. From 2012 to 2015, he rode for the Australian Orica-GreenEdge formation. He has eight professional victories, among which are a Tour stage in Gerardmer (2005), the overall classification in the Tour of Poland, the Giro della Toscana and of course two stage victories in the Giro d'Italia (plus the team time trial with Orica) .
