This year Sep Vanmarcke was the most consistent rider in the cobbled classics. In 2015 the Belgian hopes to be the hero of the Flemish spring and has announced a race schedule that will allow him to focus fully on the hard races in Nothern Europe.
Sep Vanmarkce has announced his race schedule for the spring season where he will line up in the Strade Bianche for the first time. After having started in Volta ao Algarve and done the Belgian opening weekend of Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne, he will travel to Italy for the one-day race over the gravel roads near Siena and Tirreno-Adriatico. Then he will focus on the cobbled classics as he lines up at E3 Harelbeke, Ghent-Wevelgen, the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix. He may even start the Amstel Gold Race too, according to a report in Het Nieuwsblad.
"After New Year I will leave with my brother Ken and then I will stay in Benidorm until the team training camp," he told the Belgian newspaper. "My program only changes slightly. I will just add the Strade Bianche on March 7. I will start the season in the Volta ap Algarve and will ride the opening weekend followed by Tirreno-Adriatico. If I'm still good after Paris-Roubaix, I may do the Amstel Gold Race.
At 26 year of age, Vanmarcke is reaching his full maturity. He was just 22 years old when he was second in Ghent-Wevelgem, in 2012 he won the Omloop Het Niewsblad and last year he touched glory when he was second in Paris-Roubaix.
In 2014 he was very consistent in the cobbled race: 4th in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, 3rd in Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne, 5th in E3 Harelbeke, 4th in Ghent Wevelgem, 3rd in the Tour of Flanders and 4th in Paris Roubaix.
