The peloton will cover 110.5 kilometres in stage 20. It’s the final heavy task before the sprint stage in Paris. Today’s stage starts in Modane and finishes on Alpe d’Huez, with the Croix de Fer underway. Yesterday, Tim Wellens had a better feeling.
“I had a better feeling yesterday indeed. On the first climb, I could follow the yellow jersey group. Afterwards, I tried to go for the break together with eighteen other riders, with Tony Gallopin among them," he said. "It was a real pity that I fell in the feed zone, which is always a risky place. The damage is limited to abrasions though. Today will be the last difficult day but I’m looking forward to the mythical climb of Alpe d’Huez. And tomorrow, we’re going to give it our all one more time.”
