Sir Bradley Wiggins has confirmed recent rumours that he is close to penning a new deal with Team Sky.

The 2012 Tour de France winner has been heavily linked with Orica Greenedge and Garmin but wants to focus on the track for the 2016 Olympics in Rio and he believes Sky is the best team to help him do that.

"We are trying to structure how it will work. I never really wanted to leave this team in all honesty. I would never feel really comfortable anywhere else, so I would always endeavour to stay here," he told Sky Sports News HQ.

"There was a lot of talk in the summer and everything else. We are just trying to iron out the detail of how it would look."

Wiggins was one of the riders that took part in Sky’s debut season in 2010 after joining from Garmin. He is currently riding the Tour of Britain, where he is looking to defend his title and gain form ahead of trying to become World Champion in the Individual Time Trial.
