Bradley Wiggins is one among the many high profile names taking part in Tour of Oman, but he is far from certain of being able to contend for overall victory.
Today’s start of Tour of Oman sees the participation of many of the sport’s top names, including defending Tour de France winner, Bradley Wiggins. Due to lack of form, however, the Brit has no plans of going on the attack in Tour of Oman.
“I won’t be able to. I’m too heavy at the moment,” Wiggins said. “I may do [try] anyway just because it’s about racing. Whether I stay with them [the favorites] or not, we’ll see.”
The Giro d’Italia rather than the Tour de France is this year’s main objective for Wigging, who has rescheduled his training and preparations accordingly.
“I’m going to Tenerife after this,” Wiggins said. “I’m not doing Paris-Nice or Tirreno, or those races.”
In Spain’s southern isle Wiggins will be focusing on high-altitude training and isolation.
